ICAN Norge

Will your government be in Oslo?

Aim: to get your government to attend the Oslo conference on the humanitarian impact of nuclear weapons in 2013

The Norwegian government will host an international conference on the humanitarian consequences of nuclear weapons from 4–5 March 2013. Invitations to participate in the conference have been sent to the foreign ministries of all governments.

Wherever you live – whether it's Nepal or South Africa, Great Britain or Micronesia – we need your help to make sure that your government does its homework and sends a well-informed delegation of diplomats and technical experts to Oslo for this conference.

Contact your Foreign Minister!

We have written template letters (see below) that we encourage you to translate and adapt to your national context. An up-to-date directory of Foreign Ministry contact details is available here. Follow up with a phone call or meeting to make sure that your government is getting prepared for this important conference.

As ICAN is a campaign that derives its strength from partner organizations, we also encourage you to reach out to other organizations in your country, and ask them to co-sign the letter. The more organizations that stand behind this, the greater the chance that it will reach your Foreign Minister’s eyes.

Please let us know when you write to your government and advise us of any response you receive. Email [email protected].
