Alimzhan Akhmetov

Alimzhan Akhmetov was born in November 1981 in Karaganda (Kazakhstan). 

In 2017 he was a visiting fellow to the Center for Nonproliferation Studies at the Middlebury Institute of International Studies at Monterey.

From 2006 to 2015 he worked in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan. From February 2017 till now, he is a founding director of the non- governmental organization “Center for International Security and Policy”, which works in the field of nuclear disarmament and international security.

He took part in negotiations on the development and adoption of the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons in 2017.
